The Final event for SEVWA has come and gone now, but WOW
what a show! We had a GREAT weekend for some good times with
our VW Family and Friends. The weekend started off with a
Cruise with the Unlimited Street Class held in Mocksville,
then some Dinner and a good meeting with fellow racers at
the Sagebrush. That evening many came out to the track to
camp out and setup their swap meet spaces. It was a cold
evening, but well worth not having to wait in line at the
gate the next morning.
Sunday started off early with many arriving as the gates
opening and were eager to get in and set out their goodies
to sell or maybe get some good deals before the rest of the
crowd. There were lots to see and buy as over 60 new and
used parts vendors lined the grounds by noon. The gates were
non-stop all day with spectators, swap meters and show cars
alike. This event we had a special section for VW only
parking and it seemed like you all liked it. Well we hope so
as we will keep that going for future events. This helped
reserve the show area for those that wanted to be judged and
easier for our judges to find the cars. In the end we had
some 130 Show cars with some VERY NICE Volkswagens in
attendance. Some of which have been here numerous times, but
some new faces as well. Ethan Icenhour took Best of Show
with his 60 Indigo Blue Beetle. In several classes only one
point separated the top 3! Take a look in the link
below for a list of
winners in each class.
The racing section had some 70 racers in attendance, helping
make this the largest field for this event yet. This event
featured two Heads up classes with Oliver Frey taking the
win in the Turbosmart Pro Outlaw class and in the Aircooled
Technology’s Unlimited Street East Troy Sellars took the
Champion Spot this time. Now let’s not forget all the
Bracket Racers in attendance, many of which were going for
points in the SEVWA Bracket Series, since this was the Final
event for the year. Take a look below for a complete rundown
of the Champions for the 2011 Tour. In the Sportsman Class
you had Brandon Miller taking the win away from Rick Laws.
Mel Shealy took home the money in the Pro Class over
Watercooled competitor Troy McNair. Super Pro Class had Mike
Gagnier in his rail taking the win over Clint Woolard.
Our ladies in Pink
raised over $600 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for
Breast Cancer Awareness. Thanks to everyone who stopped by
and donated!
This
Fall 2011 event was the best event to date that SEVWA has
been doing these at Farmington. We would like to thank each
and every one of you for coming out and supporting the
event. If you have any questions or comments about the event
please do not hesitate to call or email us.
